The covers for this comic were never meant to be as dark and action packed as other All-American/DC titles. The idea was to appeal to a broader range of potential readers. To this end, the book mixed heroics with funny animals and human interest stories. Still, for the first 29 issues, it featured three of the best known characters in the DC Universe on its cover. Those covers always featured Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and the Flash engaging in some normal, fun, easy-to-relate-to activities. Many of the covers portrayed the heroes entertaining a crowd with a race, a contest or in this case, a circus trick. During the war years they were often seen doing something to help the war effort. The cover for this issue is by Golden Age great E.E. Hibbard. The interior art features work by H.G. Peter and Paul Reinman. This issue appeared about a year after Max Gaines had sold his shares of All-American to Harry Donenfeld at DC. Even though the book featured characters from Gaines’ All-American line, the DC bullet had been appearing on most of the covers since the first issue appeared during the winter of 1943. That first issue had a page count of 96 and its cost was 15 cents. This copy has off-white pages. The book is CGC-Certified 9.0 (VF/NM).
