Item Description
9x12" mailing envelope holds 8.25x11.5" August 16, 1954 Vol 1 #1 issue of weekly sports magazine with 148 pages. Front cover has color photo of night action scene with batter Ed Mathews in home game at Milwaukee Stadium. Contents include "The Battle Of The Bubblegum" illustrated with a three panel fold out opening to 11.5x23.5" picturing 27 example cards from the Topps Gum 250 card set of 1954. Back of each card is also printed exactly like actual card. Players shown include Jackie Robinson, Willie Mays, Duke Snider, Ted Williams, Larry Doby, Gil Hodges. Issue also features nice color photos of Rocky Marciano boxing Ezzard Charles. Mailing envelope is heavily worn around edges and has address label for recipient in Bayville, NY in proper place. Just Good, but scarce. Baseball card sheet has 4" diagonal crease at upper right side just affecting Bob Turley card. Card sheet is otherwise Exc. and magazine is VF/Exc. Historic.
