Item Description
June 1945 deluxe edition published in Paris. Title translates to "The Beast Is Dead!" 9-3/8x12.25" hard cover with 48 pages illustrated throughout by Edmond Francois Calvo (1892-1958). Wonderful front cover has Hitler as a jackass surrendering in tattered clothes. High quality gravure printing has wonderful story of German army going down to defeat with animals representing all characters. Book is covered with clear cellophane dust wrapper and covers do have lt. dust soil with lt. bumps at corner tips. Inside signatures of binding have gaps but all are intact and pages are clean. Overall covers are VG, insides VF. Edmond Calvo was obviously heavily influenced by Disney studio art of the 1930s and early 1940s. Wonderful design throughout with superb graphics.
