Item Description
In 1992, Colin Powell came to Gettysburg as the speaker to commemorate Lincoln’s famous “Address” November 19, 1863. First item, with envelope not shown, is 7.25x7.5" stationery titled “Chairmen Of The Joint Chiefs Of Staff/Washington, D.C." and dated 12 January 1993. Addressed to McLaughlin, two paragraphs read “Thank You For Your Recent Letter, The Wonderful Photographs From The Gettysburg Event And The News Clippings. The Policy For Autographs And Photographs Is Essential Due To The Enormous Volume Of Requests I Receive On A Daily Basis. However, I Have Made An Exception This Time And Have Autographed Your Friend’s Baseball Card.” It is signed “Colin L. Powell.” Next is 2.5x3.5" card number two from 1991 set. He signed on reverse. Mint. Last are three color photos. 5x7" (1) and3.5x5" (2) from day of event. From the collection of newspaper editor Harry McLaughlin and comes with Hake's COA.
