Item Description
Early 1900s-1920s. All postcards are approx. 3.5x5.5". First one,"Barnum & Bailey Limited", has additional text in German and high quality litho images of seven performers including two different bearded ladies, tattooed lady, and math genius. Tiny bit of corner tip wear. Fine. Remaining seven are real photo postcards. 1908 card shows "Ringling Training Headquarters" with cart with two men inside being pulled by zebras. Reverse side is postally used. Lightly faded. VF. c. 1910 postcard shows circus worker in front of poster. Some lt. dust soil and lt. fade. Fine. "Jolly Irene Weight 689 Lbs." has ink text on back "Brockton Fair October 7-1926". A few lt. handling creases and reverse side is lightly tanned. Fine. Elephants standing in front of funeral parlor postcard is c. 1920. VF. "Zacchini Shot From Cannon Miami. Fla." postcard is c. 1920s. Emulsion has very slight yellowing. VF. Contortionist picture shows oriental man gesturing towards girl who has her feet in front of her head. Photo by "Photo Art Richmond Ind". Emulsion is evenly yellowed. VF. Little people next to transportation vehicle is c. 1920 printed by "Zig Photo New York City" with their names on back "Princess Nellie/Major Stanley". Photo is tanned with age and has tiny piece gone from bottom edge, reverse side has a few lt. moisture marks and some tanning. VG. 1920s. Interesting group. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
