Item Description
c. 1959 by Dan Barry. 16.25x19-7/8" archival mat has 11.75x15-3/8" opening revealing wonderful India ink art of Charlie Chan holding puppet dummy talking to pretty girl as Number One Son and other man look on. Clean and Exc. DC published six issues of this title between May-June 1958 and March-April 1959. Dan Barry (1923-1997) began in comic books in the 1940s and moved onto comic strips, drawing the Tarzan daily from 1947-1948. In 1951 he revived the Flash Gordon daily strip. In 1967 Barry took over the Flash Gordon Sunday page, doing the art until 1990. His last work was for Dark Horse Comics where he wrote and drew many Indiana Jones and Predator comic books. Art is unsigned and came from the collection of Joe Simon. Very well done.
