Item Description
This example is without its reverse shank and has significant pitting on the left but still displays very nicely. The metal to the left of the "GW" oval shows the most wear with very slight roughness to the extreme edge from 7 o'clock to 12 o'clock and the word "LONG" is faint but clearly seen on close inspection. The word "LIVE" is a bit worn but clear and the words "THE PRESIDENT" are bold as are the center large "GW" initials. On the reverse, about 50% of the surface shows roughness due to pitting. Albert describes three button varieties with small, medium and larger spaces between the "G" and "W" with this being the example with the smallest amount of space between the initials. However, Albert describes his example as 34mm overall and with an oval area of 8x16mm. The example we are offering is a bit larger at 35mm (1-3/8") and with larger oval area as well at 9x17mm. While showing its age somewhat, still a most presentable example with very nice aged brass tone.
