Item Description
15/16" with rim hole as made. On this each candidate's name is in large letters and each is followed by a period. The olive sprays have two leaf clusters and the circle enclosing each image is pearled while the outer edge of the piece is reeded. The Lincoln image has barely visible microscopic lines showing only in reflected light with the emulsion remaining in superb condition and 100% complete. On the Hamlin side the hairlines in the emulsions are slightly more pronounced with several approaching the level of an actual crack but still the emulsion remains 100% complete and with probably the highest gloss we've ever seen. When viewed straight on rather than in bouncing light both images display Mint. Beautiful NM luster on the brass frame and with a very old brass wire looped in the rim hole placed there years ago likely to preserve and display the ferrotype.
