Item Description
Early 1900s. 10-3/8x10.75x17" tall overall including wooden base. Great likeness of young boy with glass eyes and soap in right hand and towel across lap area. Wonderful design with washtub sitting on platform surrounded by soap bars which have text "Dave S. Brown And Company New York/Satin Gloss Soap". Towels and soap bubbles are coming down side of tub. Scattered lt. wear with a few dots of missing color on figure and a few chips on plaster portion of base. Overall VG. The Brown Company was established in 1799 and located at the foot of Bank Street in NYC where they produced high quality laundry soap. Only one known to us. An opportunity to obtain a great example of early advertising combined with Black Americana.
