Item Description
This important issue features the debut of John Romita as the primary artist on Spider-Man. The look and feel that he would develop over the next few years has come to define the way many fans love to see the hero portrayed. It is fitting that the first time out for a great artist would be with Spider-Man’s greatest foe, the Green Goblin. The cover really creates a horrific feeling of dread as the secret identity of Spider-Man is clearly being revealed as he is mercilessly dragged above the city streets. The look of delight on the Goblin’s face is priceless. This issue marks the first appearance of the Green Goblin’s secret identity as Norman Osborn. Many fans and comic historians consider this Goblin story-line to be among the dramatic highlights of Spider-Man’s long career. Romita’s artwork on the title is known for creating a more adult-like, less nerdy Peter Parker. He would continue on as artist on the title for seven years. The story is by Stan Lee. The art is by Romita and Mike Esposito. The pages are off-white. The Book is CGC-certified 7.5 (VF-).
