Item Description
All buttons are celluloids and the four the same size are 1.25" while the larger is 1.5" and the smaller memorial is 7/8". The three metal items in the bottom row are to scale. Top to bottom and left to right details are: a great design by Baldwin & Gleason (with backpaper) although the red rays are noticeably faded and there are some tiny and faint age dots. The next 1.25" is a real photo sepia with backpaper from Chicago maker "Photo Jewelry Mfg. Co." This is essentially Mint. The one with steel-engraving style portrait is superbly made 1896 button with covered tin back and horizontal pin along with the name of the maker Cheshire Mfg. Co. in Connecticut. Condition is NM. The jugate of McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt has some light spotting but still Fine with its W&H paper. The McKinley facing left real photo button has some light stain but still with full gloss. The rare memorial has covered tin back from Baltimore firm of "T. Selby." The "McKinley" brass shield has loss of red flag stripes as typical but still with much original luster. The "McK" shield shaped lapel stud has a brass finish but all the engraved letters and accents show a silver luster and the piece is also accented by three tiny rwb beads set into the top panel. Unusual and Exc. Last is a brass medallion missing its top hanger. McKinley is pictured on the front with "National Peace Jubilee May 22-25 1899/Washington" while on the reverse pictured are "Our Peace Makers" consisting of "Dewey/Sampson/Shafter/Merritt/Otis/Schley. Tiny luster wear but still Exc. The group has a very reasonable opening bid.
