Item Description
Driving a cab has always been dangerous, but never moreso than when you drive a cab in an EC Comic. This horrifying cover is the work of Jack Davis. The long nails, salivating mouth with fangs and red eyes on the man in the backseat can almost be dismissed. The terrifying part of this cover is the look on the cab driver’s face as he spies his assailant in the rear view mirror. This is the image that would scare any normal reader. Stories in this issue include Fare Tonight, Followed By Increasing Clottyness..., Curiosity Killed..., How Green Was My Alley, and The Handler (based on a Ray Bradbury story). There is also a text piece titled Tight Squeeze and a letters column, The Crypt-Keeper’s Corner. Artists who worked on this issue include Jack Kamen, Graham Ingels, and Jack Davis. This copy was taken directly from the files of the publisher of EC Comics, William M. Gaines. As a file copy, it never saw the regular route of distribution. It sat in a vault for years until Gaines decided to sell his personal collection. The pages are off-white to white. The book is CGC-certified 9.6 (NM+). According to the CGC Census, this copy is tied with one other as the second highest graded copy they have seen.
