Item Description
Each is approx. 3.5x5-3/8" postally unused. First card is copyright "'07. Jas. J. Jeffries" #1048 published by Benham Trading Co. Los Angeles. Nice photo on front titled "At Ease" shows Jeffries wearing championship belt. Second postcard is titled "Boxing Carnival, Chutes Park Los Angeles, Calif. During Fleet Week, Apr. 18-25, 1908 James J. Jeffries Referee". Photo has Jeffries wearing tie and vest with bowler hat standing between two boxers. Published by H.H. Stratton Chattanooga, Tenn. Third postcard is from stork series #36 with cartoon image of stork delivering baby boy who is wearing boxing gloves with title at top "Born One White Hope" with spaces for parents to put in statistics. Bottom includes text "Both Trainers Doing Well." Trace of lt. dust soil here and there with a few minor hairline creases. Overall, all are Fine. The media crowned Jeffries The Great White Hope prior to his fight with Jack Johnson in 1910 which he lost in the 15th round. Interesting images.
