Item Description
This high quality heavy brass medal is 3-1/8" dia. and .25" thick. The front shows a shirtless kneeling miner with one hand on the end of his pickax while his other hand holds a large coal lump with him looking directly at it. He also wears a cap with miner lamp on the front. Behind him are sunburst accent rays and surrounding text "The Berwind White Coal Mining Co 50th Anniversary." Reverse of the piece has center square surrounding a steamship at left and matching square at right showing an industrial factory. Both of these are printed over an accent of laurel with berries with word above "Eureka" and dates below "1886-1936." On the reverse bottom edge is "Tiffany & Co." Small rub of the darker finish off the miner's shoulder but otherwise condition is extremely Fine. No significant scratches or nicks.
