Item Description
Six items and working model gas engine. These six items appear to be from the 1930s. The company name is on all items. First is a 1" enamel on metal pin reading "Supervision." Next is a 1.5" oval enamel on metal pin reading "Office." Next is 1-1/8" tall brass pin reading "Your Local Dealer." This has some small black paint background loss. Next is a 1.75" celluloid with interior tape measure. Next is 3x7" stiff card designed to measure the output of a pump based on the depth of a well also factoring in strokes per minute. Lightly aged. Last in this group is large 2.25x2.5" well made brass paperclip with heavy interior spring. Depicted is one of the company's "Oil Engines." Tarnish and light wear but still Fine. The earliest piece in this group is a 5.25x8.5" thick stiff card with paper label top front titled "Dyke's Working Model Of A Four Cycle Gasoline Engine." This piece has a 1909 copyright. Below is artwork depicting the engine along with three actual brass gears and a crank handle. A lower panel of paste-on text describes the above scene as a four cylinder, four cycle gasoline engine and notes that various parts are given on the opposite side of the card. The other side of the card has a pair of paste-on panels providing the "Explanation Of The 4 Cycle Operation." When the crank handle on the front is turned not only do the adjacent brass gears move but on the reverse side of the card there is an arm which moves a cardboard piston up and down. The artwork on each side of the card has printed signature "G.C. Shirring." Card shows some general wear but remains in Fine condition. See Fairbanks Munitions lapel stud #589.
