Item Description
©1931 Correll & Gosden. Printed by Brown & Bigelow. 3 7/8x8 5/8" envelope addressed to recipient in Cincinnati has return address of “Amos “N’ Andy” with imprint of car dealer in Cincinnati. Envelope is heavily worn and dust soiled and right side edge has been torn off. Fair. Letter is 8.5x11" on “Fresh Air Taxi Cab Co. Of America, Incorpulated” letterhead. Upper right corner has nice art of Andy smoking cigar driving car past pretty girl on sidewalk. Typewritten letter has dialect text by Amos noting how Andy saw Madam Queen and his foot started shaking and he drove past her so fast she did not see who was in the Ford. One paragraph includes text “Now How In The World Is Anybody Goin’ Know You Is Got A New Car If Ev’body Look At De Car Instead Of Lookin’ At You In It?” Letter ends with P.S. “But Residerin’ Ev’thing, It Sho Is Plenty Automobile.”. Letter has two horizontal folds as mailed with some lt. dust soil on blank reverse. Front has VF appearance. Funny. First we’ve seen of this particular letter in our 45 years.
