Item Description
7/8" real photo button without backpaper or maker name as issued. There are some small very fine cello cracks but without magnification there is just a .25" hairline at the button's center. Button depicts young man in jacket and hat shaking hands with older man much more formally dressed. Surrounding text is "1900/Indian Territory/Take Me In./S.G.L./Richmond. Va." At center top are three links around the acronym "FLT" standing for the words "Friendship Love & Truth." The button is dated for a meeting of the Sovereign Grand Lodge which was being held in Richmond Sept. 1900 to appoint national officers. Apparently the folks from Oklahoma were requesting admission into the national organization. Metal back has a little heavier than normal oxidation but it causes no problem and the cello is totally stain free and with high gloss. Still displays Exc. One of the very few buttons to be designated "Indian Territory." Also see Tulsa button #853. Morry Greener Collection.
