Item Description
1.25" button with black metal back and fixed vertical bar pin. Beneath the text "'Remember The Maine'/M.F. Carter" is a 1898 warship of the design like that used on the buttons of this era while at the bottom is the single word "Tiger." We've not found any reference to a warship by this name and we don't know any relationship of the name Carter to the "Remember The Maine" slogan. Cream background has a little light age tone to it with a couple of tiny darker spots on upper rim edge. Unusual and rare.
