Item Description
This lot and the following two lots all include buttons part of the 1898 U.S. Warship set. Each of these three lots includes one button done in the standard coloration style but each also includes a matching button identical except that the colors are black and white. We have never seen any of these black and white buttons before. All three came from the same old-time collection. First we have "U.S. Cruiser 'Brooklyn.'" This has no backpaper and some small oxidation areas on the collet. The celluloid remains clean and Exc. The black and white version reads the same and has the same image except that because there is no blue or red color the pennant from the mast is missing, the blue flag from the bow of the ship is missing, and American flag from the stern of the ship is missing. Everything else about the button is the same as any other button in the series and this holds W&H backpaper along with their patent date on the curl. Condition is NM displaying Mint. Pair.
