Item Description
1.25" with W&H backpaper used Oct. 1897 into 1900. Pictured from a back view are a couple apparently in swimming garb and perhaps bathing hats resting against a railing and with his arm around her as they look out toward the water. Tiny red text below the design is "'Uneeda Bath.'" Larger rim text is "Salt Water Summer Resort Devils Lake, N. Dak." This is among the first North Dakota buttons and relates to the state's largest lake called the "Inner Ocean" in pioneer days due to its size of 185 thousand acres and 475 miles of shoreline. The lake was renowned for its fishing. Small bit of surface wear shows only in reflected light. Displays Mint and a rare button.
