Item Description
2-9/16" tall with a very high relief embossed brass shell portrait which has a flat plate on the reverse. The character was created in 1902 by writer Minnie Maud Hanff and artist Dorothy Ficken as part of an advertising campaign to promote a toasted wheat flake cereal named Force. While this item does not carry any text we do believe it is an early depiction of the character. Typically he has a strange extension of hair at the back of his head but this piece only shows his top knot. Otherwise the image is quite a close likeness including his eyeglasses and high collar. Pin shaft has a couple of light ripples in it. Nice luster. Only example we've seen.
