Item Description
1.25" done in the patriotic colors of rwb during the World War II era depicting the comic book character who made his first appearance in Science Comics, 1940. He also had four issues of his own in 1941-1942 and this button was issued at that time to members of his club. The members were known as "American Eagle Defenders" which is the text appearing on this button. Button's reverse has small loss of brass luster from the collet and a tiny area with a 1/8" stain mark but 99% of this shows only from the reverse and the only trace on the front is just to the left of the eagle's wing tip on the left side, barely perceptible at all. The only other flaw on the front of the button are three virtual pinpoint black specks embedded in the celluloid on the very outer upper edge between 12 o'clock and 2 o'clock. These are the tiniest slightly darker pinpoint dots and again only show on the very closest of inspections. The piece has its total full color and gloss. Exc. condition and for practical purposes displaying at least NM. In addition to this rare comic book club button see the following two items. Our last example of this button back in Auction 197 had significant scratches and was sold for over $1000.
