Two items c. mid-1950s. Each is photostat sample mock-up of proposed but never produced premium booklet. Each is approximately 3 3/8x7 7/8" on stiff photostat paper stapled together at spine. Each has 32 pages. One book is all bw, the other has front cover hand-colored in tempera and watercolor paint and two inside pages partially hand watercolored. Front cover of each has nice art of Hoppy riding Topper with gun drawn. Contents include puzzles, magic tricks, recognizing animal tracks, titles of proposal stories including “Hopalong Cassidy in Redskin Ambush!” and "Hopalong Cassidy Outwits A Claim Jumper." Back cover has design with Hoppy offering six book series with space at lower right for advertiser. Covers have some dust soil and inside pages have glue stains on blank reverses as made. Fine overall. Interesting concept and design. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold, accompanied by a letter to that effect from Gordon Gold.
