Item Description
c. 1970s. 17.75x20" art board has wonderful 17" tall India ink and watercolor painting of Captain America standing full figure with early version of shield and right hand reaching out. Art is signed in ink at lower right "Joe Simon". Board has a few moisture marks around sides, mostly in blank areas. Six tack holes on top and bottom center edges and corners, light overall aging to artboard with a pale stain area on upper left, not affecting art. Overall VF. Extremely well-done large size example by Simon who created Captain America with Jack Kirby for the character's first appearance in "Captain America Comics" #1 March 1941.
