Item Description
Sizes range from 9x12" to 10 5/8x13.75". Five are for sheet music w/ page count ranging from four to six. Song folios each have 16 pages. Dates and titles are: 1923 “Barney Google” pair. Each has same art image w/ Barney tipping his top hat standing on Spark Plug who has batteries attached to wheels at his rear to make him run faster. American variety is full color, French variety is brown w/ orange accent color. Next is 1923 “Come On Spark Plug!” with wonderful image of jockey Sunshine using a pitchfork to get exhausted Spark Plug to run faster, 1923 “Nut-Sey Fagan” w/ art by Politzer of goofy man standing atop large walnut w/ words written by writers of the Barney Google stage play, 1923 “The Latest Of All Cartoon Comedies Barney Google” song folio w/ him petting Spark Plug, 1923 “Barney Google” stage play song folio w/ Barney standing on top of Spark Plug balancing on one leg and Barney and Spark Plug at the beach under umbrella looking at pretty girls with Barney saying “Go Get Em-Sparky”, 1928 “OKMNX The Brotherhood of Billygoats” w/ art of Barney dressed in tuxedo smoking cigar with sash text “Exalted Angora” with goats nearby and well-dressed animal in background saying “Horse-Feathers!!”. Trace of lt. dust soil here and there w/ a few lt. handling creases Both song folios are printed on pulp paper which is becoming a bit brittle with age. Overall group is VG/VF. Nice group w/ some scarce examples and great art by creator DeBeck.
