Auction #204 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1446 in auction 204
Item Description
Quality frame 12x17" with mat and glass holds 6" wide by 11" tall stiff cardboard trade card. How the card is mounted and any reverse text is unknown and "as is." Front of card displays beautifully and great caricature of Butler as black woman in apron and skirt with text below "I'se Used To Wippin'. Golly! I'se So Wicked." Faint moisture line by foot at left, similar on apron and two hairline creases on his raised arm and fingers. He was major general in Civil War, member of US House, Governor of Massachusetts, and in 1884 the presidential candidate of the Greenback and anti-monopoly parties. This likely dates from that year. Rare.
