11x11x1" deep box, ©1934 Stephen Slesinger. Einson-Freeman #242. Lid is sub-titled “How Can Jane Be Rescued?” and has wonderful image of Tarzan and Jane tied to two separate trees with Python between them and her screaming. Game is complete with all 15 colored cardboard playing pieces, four blank pieces meant to be discarded are no longer present. Images include Tarzan, Jane, Lady Greystoke, Lord Greystoke, native warrior Kulonga, and animals including apes Kerchak and Kola, Sheeta the spotted leopard and Numa the lion with center scene forming image of jungle with red bird flying through vines. Inside lid has illustrated rules for playing either solitaire or for two people including image of puzzle game surface. Lid surface is slightly depressed at right side with color rubs around seam edges and 1/8x1.25" narrow bit of cardboard missing from upper right side of panel edge. Overall box is Fine and parts are VF/Exc. Superb design throughout. Rare.
