Item Description
Stiff illustration paper 14.5x18.5" has inked art area of 12x15.25". Pencil title top margin reads "The 'Champ' Successfully Defends His Title." Below Uncle Sam holds gloved hand of FDR up and declares "The Winnah - And Still Champion - /Franklin Delano Roosevelt!" The democratic corner man is a donkey jubilantly tossing a sponge in the air. Lower right is a referee who says "I Sure Hope They're Not Mad At My Decision!" Below, the GOP Elephant leads away a defeated Willkie and says "That's Alright, Wendell. You Gave Him One Of The Toughest Fights He's Ever Had!" Signed "Dietrich 11-7-40." Possibly from Los Angeles Times but not marked as such. Extreme margins have seven narrow strips of clear tape. 1.25" tear on right margin with masking tape repair on back which also has about ten narrow tape strips on edges. Art has a few small artist applied white out marks but otherwise clean and would mat to Exc. appearance. A great cartoon summary of FDR's victorious third term campaign. Unique.
