Item Description
2" dia. pocket watch with official expo logo and second dial. Plain back snaps open to reveal winding mechanism. According to an Ingersoll magazine ad, they sold at twenty booths on the expo grounds with four different models, offered at from one dollar to twenty dollars and having nickel, gilt, black, oxidized silver or gold plate finishes; known as the "Yankee" model. This is the nickel plated case model. Dial reads "Pan American Exposition 1901/Buffalo N.Y. U.S.A." Light fade of blue background, lt. tan tone on ladies representing North and South America and extremely limited tiny loss of surface paper between numbers 12 and 2. Plating remains NM. Watch runs and has kept accurate time for 60 minutes. Cataloged as WA01 in Fred Lavin's reference book "Panorama of the Pan-Am." Scarce. First we've offered.
