Has brass link chain attached at top which holds 1" tall metal fob with low relief image on front of golfer having swung and text on reverse "Hole-In-One Medal Presented By The Makers Of U.S. Royal Golf Balls". Watch is not inscribed to Barnes but is from his personal collection purchased from his estate sale. Crystal has yellowed and case has small scattered wear but most luster remains. VF appearance overall and running. Jim Barnes (1886-1966) was a top figure in the early days of professional golf in the U.S. He turned professional in 1906 and from 1923 to 1926 he was resident professional at the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club in Florida which hosted the 1925 Florida Open as well as the 1926 Florida Open. He won the PGA Championship in 1916 and 1919, the U.S. Open in 1921, the British Open in 1925. His winning margin in the 1921 U.S. Open was nine strokes, a record which was not broken until Tiger Woods won the 2000 U.S. Open by 15 strokes. He authored several books on golf technique. A wonderful and historic item for display.
