Item Description
11.75x14-3/8" sheet of art paper has 11.25x12" India ink image area with wonderful art of happy Father Time flying in open cockpit of 1927 plane saying "Whee! A Short Life An Airy One!" with man titled "Age" at lower left saying "Great Scot! Another Year Gone Already!" as boy titled "Youth" says "How Slow He Went!" Art is signed in ink at lower right "McCutcheon" and is complete with Chicago-Tribune copyright sticker. Blank bottom margin has 2.5" wide small ink inscription "To Gerhard Bosch - With My Best Wishes - John T. McCutcheon". Art is titled in ink at bottom by McCutcheon "The Flying Year". Margins have glue stains around sides, most noticeable at top and bottom, image area has some lt. dust soil but will mat and frame to Fine appearance. McCutcheon won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning in 1932. Well drawn example by one of the twentieth century's top political cartoonists and drawn the same year that Charles Lindbergh first flew the Atlantic.
