Item Description
5" tall rare ribbon badge consists of mint brass luster bar pin with cello insert dated "1900 = 1904." In our photo right side of cello may appear to be unattached but that is just because it slipped out of the slot at the right and this is now corrected. Below is a blue ribbon with gold text "The Sloper Guards." Front of ribbon is noticeably faded compared to reverse but the gold text remains strong. Upper left has small .25" fabric stress and lower right edge has small 1/8" fabric nick but the fabric overall remains very intact. Brass loop below suspends double sided celluloid with brass edge. Front of the piece has surrounding text "Roosevelt & Fairbanks/The Sloper Guards, New Britain, Ct." Listed at center are the names of the captain along with the names of four lieutenants and the date of 1904. The reverse of this celluloid piece pictures the Connecticut state senator who was also a delegate to the GOP convention in 1900. Text surrounding his photo is "Hon. Andrew J. Sloper, New Britain, Conn." Cello has .5" air streak upper left but otherwise both sides of the celluloid are clean and Exc. Only example we've seen. Rare.
