Item Description
9.5x14.25x1 3/8" deep box c. late 1800s has elegant graphics of Miss Liberty on applied label on lid top. She is shown seated holding globe in left and sword in right hand with patriotic shield nearby with flag in foreground. Box bottom is paper-covered wood. Contains thick laminated cardboard pieces which fit together to form 13.5x21.25" map of the United States along with small maps at bottom of Philippine Islands, Alaska, Hawaiian Islands, Cuba, and Porto Rico. Most states are designed as separate puzzle pieces. Lid has splits at left corner seams and is missing .75" bit of paper at upper left extreme corner of label. Fine. Puzzle has scattered lt. wear here and there around a few pieces. Fine. Alaska, Arizona, New Mexico, and Oklahoma had not yet become states when this puzzle was issued. Nice detail.
