Item Description
Each is 1-7/8x2.5" with gummed reverse and perforated edge. Back of each has remnants of a single stamp hinge. First shows monster named "Frankenstein (?) D. Roosevelt" and with his shirt labeled "Bureaucratic Government" looming over buildings as his foot tramples "U.S. Business" with FDR looking looking on in horror. Bottom margin of this, as with the other four, reads "National Republican Council - Hotel McAlpin - New York." Second stamp shows scrawny Democratic donkey on the edge of a cliff. In the cloudy distance are buildings representing the Kremlin. FDR holds a radio microphone and broadcasts in the Kremlin's direction. Seated behind him is buck-teeth Eleanor holding a pole bearing the Soviet hammer and sickle symbol. Next is "FDR" by radio microphone lighting his cigarette with a rolled up copy of the "Constitution Of The United States." Fourth shows happy, chubby elderly people looking at a huge empty pot labeled "Townsend Plan" while thread-bare skinny man, woman and child dig into their pockets in their role as "Workers" to help the elderly. Last is charging elephant with large caption "Beware!" All Mint except for the stamp hinge remnant. Only examples we've seen. Morry Greener Collection.
