Auction #204 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1446 in auction 204
Item Description
This is an all celluloid sheet formed into a narrow rectangle 1x1.25" tall by 3/16" thick. The piece is designed to slip over a suit pocket and with the bottom folded edge having jagged perforations so that it would grasp the fabric and stay in place. Back of the piece has American flag, star in circle design and silhouettes of two flying aircraft. Front of the piece has photo of FDR with Arabic text above. The blue panel on the right side has small area of lighter blue color but otherwise the piece is Mint. Very likely this piece was issued for the Cairo Conference. This was a meeting between FDR, Churchill and Chaing Kai-shek in Nov. 1943. It could possibly be for a few days later for the Tehran Iran Conference. This was a meeting between FDR, Churchill and Stalin. A very rare piece used by only those in the presidential party.
