Auction #204 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1446 in auction 204
Item Description
This 7/8" button has name of maker Midwest Badge on the curl. This is one of the few buttons to depict the vice presidential candidate on the left. Text reads "Dewey - Warren In '48." Front of button has two very tiny 1/16" brown dots at the bottom of the blue tone photos plus a similar size but even fainter tiny brown mark to the left of the word "In." On the reverse there are a pair of small celluloid splits and a tiny 1/8" cello fragment not folded perfectly under the collet. The celluloid in all cases lays quite flat although viewed from the front there the very slightest extra hairline of celluloid on the very bottom edge but only .25" long. The piece still has excellent centering and its full gloss and color. There was a recent sale of this item at $2100. While this piece is less than perfect it still displays extremely well and it has a most reasonable opening bid considering its extreme rarity.
