Item Description
The ribbons range from 4" to 6" tall. A couple have a trivial pin hole near the top but all are in clean condition and generally VF or better. Earliest is dated Feb 12, 1898 issued for a banquet of the Lincoln Republican Club in St. Paul. Next reads simply on rwb "Lincoln Club." Third is "Delegate" for a Sept. 22, 1898 "Ramsey Co Republican Convention." Fourth is similar for March 29, 1900 "Republican City Convention" in St. Paul. Last reads simply "Ramsey County." The rest of the group consists of five buttons and one lapel stud. The lapel stud is very interesting. This is .75". It's quite amazing how much detail has been crammed into this small piece. Bold outer rim names "Local Reform Party." Beneath this is slogan "Independence In Local Politics." At center beneath an eagle is a shield reading "Honesty/Fairness/Justice/Unity/Harmony/& Success." Mint. Next is 1.25" real photo button showing Moses Clapp. He was a GOP Senator from 1901-1917 and this is from his first campaign. Text reads "I Am For The 'Black Eagle' Of Minnesota/For U.S. Senator." Condition is NM displaying Mint. Next is 7/8" button for "Gov. A.O. Eberhart/He Has Made Good." Has W&H backpaper. Next is 1.25" for "Governor John A. Johnson." This has Western Badge backpaper. Next are a pair of real photo buttons, both of the same design but one with better contrast than the other. These are "For County Treasurer Alex. Lindahl." Both these two and the one for "Black Eagle" have backpaper by Shepherd Photo Co of St. Paul.
