Item Description
Four items. 5.75x9" soft cover book document No.79 for second session of 87th Congress is subtitled "Hearing Before The Senate Committee On Aeronautical And Space Sciences/Testimony Of Astronauts And NASA Officials Held On February 28, 1962." Book was published March 15, 1962 by the U.S. Government Printing Office and contains 126 bw pages including numerous photos based on Glenn's then recent February 20, 1962 trip aboard Friendship 7 which made him the first American to orbit the Earth. Comes with pair of passes, each 2.75x4.25" with type written date of Feb. 26 1962 and typewritten name of "Mr. Harry McLaughin". First is House of Representatives visitor's pass signed in ink by Geo. A. Goodling and second is United States Senate Chamber gallery pass signed in ink by Hugh Scott. Also includes third pass to admit bearer to the United States Capitol though this pass is not filled out. Hearing book has light creasing at upper and lower right corner tips and first several pages, otherwise all items are Exc. Historical items relating to a key moment in America's exploration of space. From the collection of newspaper editor Harry McLaughlin and comes with Hake's COA.
