Auction #204 - Part II
Item numbers 1447 through 3204 in auction 204
Item Description
3.5x9x6.25" tall all celluloid toy features large elephant who holds a jointed figure of Henry on his trunk and a second Mahout companion figure sits atop the elephant's back. 1930s, Japan. Toy works and comes w/key. When the toy is wound, the elephant's separate head moves about in a realistic fashion as its separate ears on shafts also move. Toy gives the appearance as if the elephant is giving Henry a ride on his trunk. Toy has been restrung at some point. There is a .5" crack at area where winding key is located and a tiny spot on the back of one leg where a .25" hole was closed and painted, only visible upon close inspection, overall toy is still Exc. An exceptionally attractive and classic wind-up toy.
