Item Description
Morton's kit is copyright 1936 and appears to be salesman's sample. Two pieces include 8.5x11" die-cut 6-page folder promoting magic kit campaign with text letter from advertising manager and image of kit with poster and newspaper ad designs on back cover. Kit itself is 10x14.5" 6-page stiff paper illustrated folder including instructions for "15 Mystifying Magic Tricks Including Cutting A Woman In Half, Morton's Magic Chest, The Balancing Wand, Magic Glasses, The Jumping Toothpick, The Educated Egg." Graphics include nice image of Morton's salt container wearing top hat with arms and legs holding wand sitting on crescent moon with stardust above. Salesman's folder is VF, kit punch-out has 3" split at one seam but is still Fine/VF. Second kit comes in 9x9" manila folder illustrated on front with young boy performing tricks with text "Here Are Your Willie The Wizard Magic Tricks" with return address of Visking Corp. Chicago. c. 1950. Reverse side of envelope is illustrated with tricks including Hocus Pocus Transformation Machine, Pirate Treasure Chest, Wizard's Tower Escape Trick, and Japanese Goldfish Bowl. Top flap has coupon to order more kits for 25¢ and coupon from "My Favorite Brand Of Skinless Franks, Skinless Smoked Links, Or Luncheon Meats". Contains 4-page illustrated instruction folder and two stiff paper punch-out sheets. Each opens to 8.5x17.75". Graphics include rabbit in tuxedo, pirates, and dragon. Envelope has trace of lt. aging but envelope and instruction sheet are VF. Punch-out sheets have a few loose perforations but otherwise bright and Exc. Both kits are nicely designed.
