Auction #182 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1499 in auction 182
Item Description
.75x7/8" brass pin with possibly hand-engraved design of a coiled snake that has its tongue protruding. Below is slogan "Don't Tread On Me." Outer border of flag has small accents and reverse has bar pin with a loop and anchor designed identically to that used on Harrison brooches of the 1840 era. Front slogan once had additional black color within the letters but only a little bit now remains. Border of flag has faint white enamel paint coloring which is mostly complete but the accent line is so thin that it does not show very much. Nice all-over brass luster. Early and rare although used for purpose unknown to us.
