Item Description
2-3/8x4" stiff card includes "LAW" name and logo. Card has inked name of member and typed location of Philadelphia, Pa. There is also the inked member's number of "102682" and text "This Ticket Expires 1899." Reverse of the card has chart showing the highest membership number issued for each year. This list begins in 1880 with 64 members. The list ends in 1896 with 66, 522 members. Apparently this card was issued in 1897 (July 23) indicating an increase of 36,000 members in just seven months. Card has tiny bit of wear and age tone on the borders. While we've seen thousands of 1896 era bicycle buttons and hundreds of League of American Wheelmen items this is the first vintage membership card we've ever seen.
