Item Description
The smaller buttons are 1.5" and the largest are 2.25". The felt pennants with attached bell are 4.25" tall. The group begins with the earliest buttons from 1916 and one undated but from 1917. On this the event is titled "St. Paul Outdoor Sports Carnival." The 1916 example is also inscribed "Make It A Hot One" while the following year this was changed to "Make It A Hotter One." Each has trio of ribbons held by the collet. First has small bits of fabric missing from the ribbon inscribed "Member." The second button has a small hole in the blue ribbon. The buttons themselves are essentially Mint. Next come a pair of identical buttons from 1937 titled this time "Winter Sports Carnival." These both have wonderful art deco design. Next are three identical undated buttons picturing a female skier. These are from 1938. There are also a pair of blue felt pennants each with a cardboard label on the back and designed to be worn with a straight pin. Each of these suspends a metal bell. Next is button from 1939, then two buttons from 1941 picturing drum majorette, then two buttons with king holding "Fun" key from 1940 and a single undated button with king as jack in box which is from 1942. Next is plastic badge for 1949. Next is embossed silver foil badge picturing snowman and titled "Frosty Frolic" from 1955. Last is 1964 button. Other than the small bit of wear on a couple of the ribbons the group is very close to Mint as issued. See following collection of St. Paul and Minnesota items.
