Item Description
1.25" with no maker name and back paper. Reverse collet has two spots of somewhat heavy oxidation but not creating any stain. In addition reverse upper edge a hairline segment of celluloid about .5" long did not fold perfectly smoothly under the collet and at this place on the upper edge a tiny sliver of celluloid about 3/16" long is actually missing but barely distinguishable as the underneath paper is white and blends almost perfectly with the bkg. color. The woman poses with her hands in her hair. She is at the center opening in a wall with a sphinx-like figure on the left and a planter with flowers on the right. We estimate the button is c. 1915. Quite risque for its time and with beautiful soft coloration. Only example we've seen. Comes with Hake's COA.
