Item Description
7/8" button has two stars accenting the words "Hey Rube!" This is an American slang phrase used by circus and traveling carnival workers as a rallying cry, or cry for help used when carnies are in a fight with outsiders. The famous clown Dan Rice is quoted as calling the phrase "A Terrible Cry, As No Other Expression In The Language Does, That A Fierce Deadly Fight Is On And That Men Who Are Far Away From Home Must Band Together In A Struggle That Means Life Or Death To Them." Button does not have a back paper or a maker's name but is of the WWII era and is also the first we've seen. NM displaying Mint.
