Item Description
In 1896 Whitehead & Hoag began producing buttons to meet the demand of collectors. One of the first sets produced was titled "Celebrated Men And Women." This Barnum button was part of that set and it is 7/8" with W&H back paper that was in use from 1896 into 1898. There is a small line of stain primarily along the right hand edge but over 90% remains clean. The earliest version of this button which was issued over a few years but which contains different back papers. See the following three rare Barnum items.
