Item Description
This 1" button has union bug back stamp plus some lettering on the curl but most of it is beneath the collet and we have not been able to figure it out. Front of the button names Pittsburgh television station "WQED." This station was the first to air the program in 1954 under the title The Children's Corner. The button pictures Daniel Striped Tiger who was the first puppet to appear on The Children's Corner and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. The character was named after the TV station's first general manager, Dorothy Daniel. Button has some trivial oxidation on the metal back and the orange outer rim edge has just the very faintest trace of some gray moisture stain showing only on very close inspection. Still displays Exc. A rare promotional c. 1960. Only example we've seen.
