Item Description
Each of these is 1.75" with name of San Fransisco maker on curl Star Engraving Co. The characters appeared on a daily kids' show "Fireman Frank" over station KRON-TV in the mid-1950s. The host Firemen Frank was George Lemont, a San Fransisco deejay who assumed the role after the original host died. Lemont's humor was appealing both to children and adults and shows included the studio crew laughing off camera at things which probably went over the kids' heads. Between cartoons out came Lemont's cast of carrots. Karl was rather beatnik inspired and wore a pair of shades. This particular button includes the name of show sponsor and promotes the "Keds Klub." According to the Internet Karl's dialogue consisted entirely of "Blubble-lubble-lubble." This button has two tiny indents on reverse collet and a trace of surface wear showing only in reflect light. It still displays Exc. and is only example we've seen. With it comes a button we've seen once before showing another of the cast puppets named "Dynamo Dudley." Button includes the additional text "Robot Police." Also on the show, but a character we've not seen a button for was a beret-wearing jive talking Scat the Cat. This button is Exc. and displays Mint. See next related kids' show button.
