8x10.25" glossy c.late 1930s has nice image of Mickey wearing sweater looking somewhat serious. Clear area at left has bold 2" wide fountain pen “Mickey Rooney” signature. Photo has some lt. handling creases, mostly just visible in reflected light and blank reverse side has paper remnants from scrapbook removal. Fine with bold signature. Rooney’s Hollywood career began with the Mickey McGuire series of short films adapted from the Toonerville Trolley strip beginning in 1927. He went on to greater fame with the “Andy Hardy” series which began in 1937 and had major success as a dramatic actor in 1938 “Boys Town” opposite Spencer Tracy which would be about the time this photo was taken. Rooney has won multiple awards including an Honorary Academy Award, a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award. His career spans almost 90 years and he is the last surviving male star from 1930s Hollywood. Comes with Hake’s COA and JSA COA.
