Item Description
Art is for animated film The Adventure Of Ichabod And Mr. Toad released October 5, 1949 directed by Jack Kinney, Clyde Geronimi, and James Algar. 10x12" sheet of animation paper has 7.5" tall full figure of Mr. Toad in center drawn in lead and colored pencil. Lower left has studio ink stamp “Color Model Return To Color Department” and upper right has pencil text “Painters Model” with additional pencil text at lower right “Standard Toad In Nite Shirt” with production ink stamp at lower right corner with #2011 for sequence #10.1. Figure has several lead and color pencil designations for clothing colors. Sheet has margin aging with pinholes in top corners and staple at upper left, right side margin edge has .25" moisture mark, tip off bottom left corner and a few lt. handling creases. Art image area remains Exc. The cartoon was divided into two parts with adventures of Mr. Toad based on the Kenneth Grahame book The Wind In The Willows as the first part of the cartoon while the second part is based on the Legend Of Sleepy Hallow by Washington Irving with Ichabod Crane. This was the last of several package pictures of the 1940s. A superior well- drawn example for a character which has seen little animation art on the market.
